EIKON #130-131 | PICTURE POLITICS
The current issue is a double issue focusing on the theme of “Picture Politics.” It highlights moments in which images are involved in social negotiation processes. The selected articles shed light on various artistic strategies used by photographic practices to visualize, question, or reformulate political realities. At the same time, they also reveal the limits of artistic-activist image production. We hope you enjoy reading it. –

On the small screen, the quality of an image hardly matters anymore; what counts is the repetition of the theme, i.e. the quantity, in order to keep interest alive, and above all the real-time transmission, which conveys the feeling of being there […].

EDITORIAL
Dear Readers!
EIKON magazine is undergoing a phase of realignment, a process of reflection and renewal. During this transitional period, a team is being formed that will shape EIKON in the future with a keen eye, great curiosity about content, and fresh perspectives. This new beginning in terms of personnel gives us the opportunity to rethink established structures and try out new ones: you can expect more accentuated photo series, even more space for art in all its diversity, and a magazine layout that we are carefully but consistently making clearer and more reader-friendly. At the same time, we are refocusing on a central aspect of our identity: our mission to communicate – the task of making photographic practices and discourses accessible, readable, and tangible. We want to fulfil this mission with even greater attention, sensitivity, and depth in order to further sharpen the dialogue between art, theory, and the public.
The offerings of EIKON magazine and online services are increasingly converging. You can soon expect new services on the EIKON website and in the EIKON newsletter – be sure to subscribe, free of charge!
