Not a single word is integrated in Annabelle Fürstenau’s Flowers/Leaves images, and yet they could be mistaken for text-images from a distance, as their composition follows the line-by-line arrangement, typical for characters in the manner of book or manuscript pages. Viewed from a closer distance, the individual characters could still be interpreted as those of an unknown script/language with various typographical variants. Their inflorescences, if we are able to decipher them, in any case guide us beyond the usual path of words to nature, albeit completely wordlessly.
