The buildings, which Simona Rota has documented over the past two years in her project “Ostalgia”, are mostly oversized architectonic structures, which were commissioned by the Soviet regime, in order to demonstrate its assertiveness, its authority, its economic and territorial power as well as its desire for permanently progressing development in the sense of a new society.
