Annegret Soltau rarely makes things easy for her audience. One is still struck by works with evocative titles such as “Body Orifice”, when confronted with images of genitals appearing in places where they do not belong, or with bodies tightly bound or woven as if in spider’s webs – not for pleasure, as in the Japanese bondage practices, but as metaphors for a sense of bondage.
