The first thing one notices about the photographic works for “Domestic Sculpture Garden”
(2010–12) by Michael Strasser is their tidiness. In an apartment in New York City, Strasser, in the brief period remaining before complete renovation, removes the industrial parquet from the floor and stacks it
to the ceiling in bundles that begin to taper and twist, until the improvised wooden tower appears as an ironic architectural commentary on the skyscrapers visible through the window.
