Rather than attempting to simply invert values, Niedermayr prefers to question the process of representation and the capacity of our perception by allowing us to once again feel the geological power of the mountains that transcends us. His works do not directly represent a critique of consumption and the future of the Alps, but implicitly allow us to sense these through an atmospheric quality. The ruptures made visible through seriality prevent the perception of a single fixed image, instead allowing us to feel the course of things. Consequently—and because we do not find ourselves confirmed as contemplative subjects in our encounter with the work—we can perceive the tipping point where land becomes landscape as a tension between (at least) two modes of being.
