The transformation of the background into a monochrome contrasting element, creating a tension between the depicted subject and its surroundings, is particularly striking. The surrounding field of colour accentuates the centre of the image. It creates a double framing within the picture frame. [&#8230;] This aesthetic of omission also creates a sense of disruption of those spatial settings which remain contained within the collage itself, appearing even more condensed due to the indeterminacy of its surroundings.
