Anastasiia Yakovenko dedicates her exhibition to this aspect of the current war, while exploring the questions of who is allowed to speak about sexual attacks, what remains unsaid and how the victims can deal with these crimes. Shaped by the performing arts, she uses the photographic medium as an instrument to translate difficult narratives into artistic images. In her imagery, Yakovenko refers to the feminist group FEMEN, but shows the visual protest of a new generation. The title of the exhibition \u201cVanja was here\u201d (Russian \u201c\u0422\u0443\u0442 \u0431\u044b\u043b \u0412\u0430\u043d\u044f\u201d) is borrowed from an inscription at Liechtenstein Castle in Maria Enzersdorf. The building was located in the Soviet zone during the occupation of Austria from 1945 to 1955, when Russian soldiers scribbled \u201cPetya\/ Vasya\/ Vanja was here\u201d on the doors of the castle.<br \/>\nVanja\u2014one of the most common male first names in Russia\u2014is now synonymous with the perpetrators. With \u201cVanja was here\u201d, Yakovenko not only wants to draw the attention of the European public to these war crimes, but also to motivate the victims to seek psychological help and support.<br \/>\nAs part of the exhibition, donations for the recovery project Unbreakable mom by the <a class=\"content_zeitschrift\" href=\"https:\/\/mashafund.org.ua\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Masha Fund<\/a> will be collected.
